Hello,
Welcome to day six of our Spring Into Ideas blog series. Today we are continuing our Spring cleaning, artist style. Having an organized workspace allows your mind to worry less about clutter and more about art.
Organization
If you’re lucky enough to have a workspace, it’s time to spiff it up. Here are some tips how:
Gather reference photos into small 99 cent photo albums and organize them by subject.
Make sure you have at least a small mirror in your workspace. The best way to find problems with composition and perspective is to look at your work in reflection. Sounds crazy, but trust me!
Use an average tackle box to organize your tubes of watercolor paint. The little compartments are a perfect fit.
Another handy box is a medium sized toolbox with a handle. If you have little kids around, you can store all of your paints and brushes inside and lock it shut. No fuss, no muss!
You can easily store all you art magazines by buying a three-ring binder and these neat little plastic three-ring magazine holders (you can get them anywhere that sells office supplies) that you slip a magazine through so that they will go into a binder without having to punch holes in them.
Egg cartons are great for organizing your bits of leftover pastel.
